DECEMBER 1-ST, OPPINIONS
1. December 1-st represents for me a big celebration, Romanian people are more united and they try to revert to the past, in order to understand their future. (Andreea N.)
2. Every single Romanian should feel happy for being Romanian. (Fraga)
3. December 1-st is the national Day of Romania. In this day, I remember that I am Romanian and I just want to be proud of my country. I realize that I like it , because Romanians are kind, the girls are beautiful, the landscape is absolutely great, and here is my home, here is my heart, and I love Romania because I feel good here. I admit that I get angry when I see crimes happen, theft, corruption and bad habits. These things don’t make me proud at all, and I hope aur President will be able to eliminate all these bad things. Maybe we will be saved for being so lost. December 1-st means to me the hope for a better life. Maybe, when I will grow up, my thoughts will be different. (Daniela)
4. December 1-st means happiness and friendship, because I feel that I am part of a special culture, of a great nation with an important contribution to the international cultural heritage. (Marius)
5. I remenmber the suffering of all our ancesters. I don’t have particular feelings about this day, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t respect the celebration and I am not proud of my country, far from that… (Laura)
6. December 1-st is our National Day. It’s important to me, it makes me feel a true Romanian, because is a time to remember how our ancesters fought for our independence and freedom. I am proud to be their heir. (Adrian)
7. For me, December 1-st means our National Celebration, when all Romanians can shake hands and call eachother “brother”. I think the Union Day is the most important date in Romanian History. (anonymus)
8. December 1-st means something to all Romanians. At that time, in 1918, all Romanians felt in their hearts the Union spirit. It’s a long time ago, and I think this feeling is also long gone. It’s sad, because in these days, we are not the same as we used to be. It’s nothing left of greatness and glory. December 1-st is one other day of our lives. (Marinas)
9. It’s a day of resting and peace. We should stay home and enjoy the vacation. I am happy that I am Romanian, but I would like to disfruit this at home. (Anca)
10. We do not celebrate our National Day as other people use to. I don’t feel neither happy or like celebrating It must be different, but I don’t know how. (anonymus)
11. It should be a reson for happiness and joy. It isn’t. What should I say? (anonymus)
12. Even if I am Romanian, I don’t know many things about December 1-st. I hate history. I know it’s the end of the union process, when all Romanian provinces were united in one country. That’s it. Why bother more? (anonymus)
13. Maybe mother is doing something good at home, in the kitchen. It’s a tradition, to do traditional food? (anonymus)
14. December 1-st means a fact of a great importance for the Romanian history. We should be proud of this day. We should listen to our National Anthem every morning, and be proud of it, and of the fact that we are Romanians. I think we all should show interest and solidarity. Now and from this day forward. (Andreea A.)
15. For me, this day means the most important day in our history. It’s a special day because we are united, and we feel strongly the fact that we are Romanians, I like hearing the National Anthem and see the Romanian Flag rising. (Anca T.)
16. I feel guilty that I don’t feel anything special in this day. I am sorry. (Florentina)
17. In 1918, the Romanian dream of Union was accomplished. It’s sad we do not dream anymore, and we don’t have more patriotic feelings.
18. I don’t know if I am very much aware of the importance of this day, I’m rather confused. Celebrating this day is a recognition of our ancestors’ fight for breaking borders and unite all Romanians in one single country.
19. I feel as in any other day. I should feel special, but I can’t. Don’t ask me why…
20. I feel sick, I have to go to school… Well, I feel Romanian, I am proud, December 1-st is the fulfilling of the Romanian dream, the Union.
21. This day reminds me of the hardwork of our ancestors; with their contribution, we are what we are today, one single nation. One single flag. And one single hope for the future: to have a better one.
22. “We are Romanians, and we are masters of this land…” “Romanians, cross the Carpathians, your brothers are waiting for you!” why don’t we all listen more often these songs?
23. When I think about December 1-st, I remember my history teacher and what she said to us: Not to know, not to learn, not to falsly respect and not to pretend that we fully understand what happened one hundred years ago. She said to us ti light a candle for the war heroes. For me, December 1-st is a cold freezing day and a little candle in my hand, bowing my heart down for a while, in front of an unknown hero of war, and I think life will go on, and he will be remembered, and we will be remembered remembering him…
24. We use to listen to our President’s speech every year, and we listen to our National Anthem. It’s a celebration, everybody should be happy.
25. When all our hearts will be once again one, I will be the happiest person in the world!
People are not impressed too much by this day and this makes me sad. We should prove that we are a great nation.
26. It’s a shame we don’t do anymore things to make us proud to be Romanians. It’s our National Day, once a year, and we have to do something great to honour this day.
I would like to honour my country more , I would like to feel Romanian feelings, I would like to know how?!
Please feel free to comment on that.
